SIP calculator explained: compounding, expected returns, and corpus math

A SIP is a monthly annuity. Here is how future value is estimated and why the rate you enter matters more than the app you use.

What a SIP projection really is

The calculator assumes a constant monthly return derived from your annual expected rate. Markets do not move in a straight line, so treat the result as a planning range, not a guarantee.

Worked example

₹10,000 a month for 15 years at 12% invests ₹18 lakh. With monthly compounding the estimated corpus is about ₹50.5 lakh. The gap is compounding — not a bonus from the fund house.

₹1 crore, 10/15/20 years, and product mix

Required SIP for a ₹1 crore goal, future value by monthly amount, and SIP vs FD vs PPF vs NPS are finance-question pages that reuse this formula. They are not duplicate SIP explainers.
