How it works
Select the GST rate that applies to your HSN/SAC from the notified schedules. Exclusive prices add tax; inclusive prices reverse tax using CGST Rule 35. Intra-state supplies split the tax equally into CGST and SGST; inter-state supplies show IGST.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the inputs shown above (amount, rate, tenure, income, or other fields).
- Read the live results — they update as you type.
- Check the formula, worked example, and assumptions on this page before you decide.
Formula
Exclusive: GST = amount × rate / 100. Inclusive (Rule 35): GST = inclusive × rate / (100 + rate). Intra-state: CGST = SGST = GST / 2. Inter-state: IGST = GST.
Worked example
₹1,000 exclusive at 18% intra-state: GST ₹180 (CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90), invoice ₹1,180.
Reading the result
Treat the output as a planning figure. Compare it with your sanction letter, payslip, or GST invoice rather than treating it as a filing or a loan offer.

Frequently asked questions
On an exclusive price, multiply taxable value by the notified rate. On an inclusive MRP, reverse the tax with Rule 35: tax = inclusive × rate / (100 + rate).
Assumptions and limits
- You must pick the correct rate. Most goods moved to 5% / 18% / 40% from 22 Sep 2025; special and residual schedules still exist.
- Place of supply is simplified to intra vs inter. UTGST is treated like SGST.
- Compensation cess, reverse charge, and discount-before-tax rules are not modelled.
