Finance question

What will be my in-hand salary from my CTC?

Last updated 2026-09-17

Quick answer

In-hand is CTC minus employer PF (and similar cost heads), then minus employee PF, professional tax, income tax and other deductions. A ₹12 lakh CTC with 40% basic is not ₹1 lakh a month in the bank. Use the CTC calculator; we do not invent your state’s professional tax.

CTC vs gross vs net

CTC is the employer’s cost. Employer PF is usually inside CTC but never hits your account. Gross is typically CTC minus those employer-only lines. Net is after employee PF, PT and TDS.

Worked example

₹12 lakh CTC, 40% basic, new regime, PT ₹0: open the in-hand calculator. It uses the same tax engine as the income-tax page and EPFO 12% rates from config.

Formula

Monthly gross ≈ CTC/12 − employer PF. In-hand ≈ monthly gross − employee PF − PT − monthly new-regime tax − other deductions.

Example scenarios

CTC → modelled in-hand / month — FY2026-27 new regime, 40% basic, PT ₹0

CTCEst. in-hand / month
₹5,00,000₹37,667
₹8,00,000₹60,267
₹10,00,000₹75,333
₹12,00,000₹90,400
₹15,00,000₹1,05,811
₹20,00,000₹1,36,297
₹25,00,000₹1,64,392
₹30,00,000₹1,90,094

Variable pay, gratuity accruals and state PT will change the real payslip.

FAQs

Employer PF, employee PF and TDS come out before the credit. CTC is not a monthly salary.
